Pete Davidson doesn’t really need a TV show or movie to promote to grab the headlines because the actor and comedian has earned a reputation for being quite the ladies’ man in Hollywood and New York (and wherever Martha Stewart is). And he joined the most important woman in his life – Amy Waters Davidson, his mother – for a new ad produced by dark company Manscaped, which will have you imagining Santa Claus in a way you probably haven’t before, but won’t be able to forget. Oh, ho-ho-humanity!
Manscaped has become quite the recognizable brand name for those who are keen on keeping their nether regions clean and presentable, and have been a go-to podcast sponsor for years. The company landed a goldmine of a spokesperson in Pete Davidson, who I think many would agree would be in a top 10 celebrity list. whose genitals have been discussed the most in the past year. And this new advertisement uses the SNL the discrete energy of the veterinarian (among other types of energies) in a perfectly ridiculous way. Check out the ad below, which is safe for work, although you probably shouldn’t watch it very hard.
For those who didn’t get to watch, the gist of the commercial is that Davidson wakes up on Christmas morning with his mother, and after unwrapping most of his other presents, Pete gets one last gift box to open. Naturally, the freebie is Manscaped’s Performance Package 4.0, which includes an assortment of branded products. But the central mower, known as the lawnmower, is strangely missing from the box. Who could have taken it?
Sure! The happiest of merry men himself, Kris Kringle. But the mythical giver didn’t just take, take, take. He also left the Davidson family with a hilariously long line of pubic hair leading from under the cookie plate to the fireplace. Which brings up all sorts of curious questions.
How fast does Santa’s hair grow? Why didn’t Santa just shave his trash in a corner of the living room or bathroom, instead of doing it in the middle of a drive from place to place? Was he holding the cookie plate in one hand while shaving with the other, then setting the plate back on that tuft of hair? How the hell did Pete and his mom go through all that gift unwrapping without noticing all the old man’s pubes everywhere? Are they fair climb over this?
Thumbs up for hilarious and silly commercials like this, which Pete Davidson was all about when he signed with Manscaped over the summer. And he shared an expected goofy statement with People about the new Christmas-themed ad, saying:
It’s not everyday that you find a brand that appreciates and even encourages a good ball joke. Before Manscaped, everyone was too scared to talk about the importance of a good toilet there! Their balance between quality products and not taking themselves too seriously is what we need in a grooming brand. Me, my mom and dirty old Santa can all be behind Manscaped.
There have been recent rumors that Pete Davidson might metaphorically keep his neat T-waste – was that even a metaphor? – as it would have been related to iCarlyby Emily Ratajkowskiwho had already made headlines for a supposed affair with Brad Pitt. But as has happened with the actor’s other dates, he doesn’t talk about things publicly, so it’s hard to know where things stand. But when it comes to hard standing stuff… (Rim shot.)
Beyond his Manscaped commercials, Davidson will eventually return to the small screen to direct his first major television show, as he will co-star with unretired icon Joe Pesci for the peacock comedy Bupkis. Admittedly, the reports of the whole have underlined the Meet cute star having a massive meltdown that would have led him to take a mandatory break from filming. But that’s probably nothing a little male grooming wouldn’t solve. In fact, if that fixed anything, then there was probably a bigger problem than anyone knew.
