Images of a never-before-seen Apple MagSafe charging accessory called the “Apple Magic Charger” have surfaced online over the past two weeks.

Collector of rare Apple products and Twitter user”LeBleuMisterThe first images shared of the unreleased accessory earlier this month. Since then, other Asia-based collectors appear to have gotten their hands on Design Validation Test (DVT) versions of the device and are sharing images of them online.

TheBlueMister began to disassemble the prop to restore it to working order, showing part of that process on Twitter. Connecting to a Mac reveals that the unreleased accessory is called the “Apple Magic Charger”.

The accessory features a rubberized white ‌MagSafe‌ charger inside a rounded anodized aluminum square that can be pushed into an upright position. It apparently has a Space Gray finish and includes a white rubberized base to hold it in place on a surface, as well as an integrated braided USB-C charging cable. It also appears to resemble the iPhone Lightning Dock. Twitter user known as “DuanRui” today shared additional images of the unreleased Apple Magic Charger.

The design of the accessory is similar to the hinged Apple Watch charger on the ‌MagSafe‌ Duo and the now discontinued Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock, and this is the first time a ‌MagSafe‌ charger has been seen in a hinged implementation on an accessory. Official Apple.

The design seems somewhat limited for the ‌iPhone‌ as it cannot be pushed vertically in portrait orientation on the charger, which is useful for watching content in landscape mode only. The ‌MagSafe‌ puck could, of course, still charge a flat ‌iPhone‌, as well as AirPods with a ‌MagSafe‌ charging case.

TheBlueMister says that an early version of the Apple Magic Charger design was limited to holding an ‌iPhone‌ in a vertical and horizontal position only, and these limitations were apparently among the main reasons Apple canned the product.
